Alpha

  • Community Church Derby

9 May - 11 July

We are running two Alpha courses this year, one from May and another later in the autumn. We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and share their point of view; wherever they are in the world. The new Alpha series uses stories from some high profile christians like Bear Grylls, making the Alpha course more contemporary and refreshed.

Simplify Series

June / August

We regularly hear things like, "I'm too busy", "I feel stressed", "I don't have enough time", "I'm feeling overwhelmed", "I'm worried" so we are running a series through the summer inspired by Bill Hybels book, called 'Simplify', to understand how being overworked and out of balance can affect our physical health, relationships, work, and spiritual attitude and how we can take personal responsibility for prioritising our lives based on the things that matter most, not the things that are most urgent.

EMCF CELEBRATION & family picnic

  • The Riverside Centre

We’re joining the wider EMCF family on Sunday 25th June for one of our regular EMCF Celebrations. Mark Mumford will be speaking and we’re also going to take an offering for the EMCF Vision Fund. We’re using the fund to prioritise investing in leaders and for the development of EMCF. Please pray about what you might give.

It’s going to be an extra special day as there will be a family picnic afterwards. You are all invited to stay and eat and connect with each other. There will be a BBQ (with veggie options), snack bar and an ice cream van too – please note, charges apply for these options! We’re planning inflatables for the kids, a kids film if it’s wet and a photo booth to capture a moment from the day.

Inspire to Worship

A day of encounter, equipping, empowering and encouragement for existing worship leaders, emerging worship leaders, musicians and singers across our sphere of churches!

Hosted by Community Church Derby at The Riverside Centre, Saturday 1st July, 9.30am – 3.30pm

Led by Simon and Gaynor Shaw this day will include a mixture of worship, prayer, prophecy, teaching and a variety of practical seminars designed to give you the skills you need to serve your church and take your worship life to the next level.

The cost of the day is £10 per person. Lunch will be provided.

This will provide a great opportunity for teams to grow together so please do think about who you might like to bring, and anyone with an emerging worship gift could be encouraged to come along. The day is suitable for youth (over 14) who want to grow in this area as well! (Please note there is no childcare provided on the day and it will not be suitable for children to be present, so please do plan ahead and get provision in place).

We welcome John and Carol Arnott and Duncan and Kate Smith from Catch the Fire to minister to us. Their heart is to reach the world with Jesus through the sharing of our values, equipping people, and releasing them to bring revival to their nations. We have welcomed them many times to share with us prophetically and with Father Heart ministry they carry. They are a gift to the body of Christ and we are excited about Wildfire II later this autumn.

Identity in Isaiah

  • Community Chruch Derby

Sundays 10:30am - 12pm and 6:30pm - 8pm

Throughout the spring we look in depth at the book of Isaiah. Adultery, broken promises, corruption, abuse. These are just some of the many issues that have marred the relationship between God and his people ever since he first called them out of obscurity. Yet the book of Isaiah offers us a fascinating insight into God’s remarkable response to this checkered history: in it we discover a God of unending love and patience, committed to making the relationship work at any cost to himself, and devoted to helping us become the people he always believed we could be...

Curtain Call | Revealing Revelation

  • The Riverside Centre

Sundays 10:30am - 12pm and 6:30pm - 8pm

This autumn we will step into the book of Revelation and demystify some of the imagery and challenge some of our preconceptions. Revelation literally means “unveiling” and this amazing book is actually all about revealing Jesus to us in new and powerful ways. He is the victorious worthy Lamb; present with us, watching over us, fighting for us and welcoming everyone to be a part of his radical everlasting family. Perhaps more than any other book, Revelation sets out what it means for us to belong to and follow Jesus in the world. So come and join us as we pull back the curtain of heaven and see Jesus in all his love and glory!
