CAP money

In last Sunday’s talk Karina presented us with a “Simplify” challenge around our personal finances.  It is recognised that whether we are living in a time of financial challenge, or are blessed with a time of plenty, we are all called to be good stewards of what God has provided for us.  If afterwards you were left with a feeling of, “how can I practically apply this?”, then we would like to offer the following support:

  • If you are struggling financially, share this with your Riverside Community so that they can prayerfully support you through this time.  If you are not in a Community please seek support from the Pastoral Care Team.
  • Christians Against Poverty are passionate about releasing people from a life sentence of poverty, debt, unemployment and addiction. Working with the local church they bring good news, hope and freedom to people in the UK. If you need to access CAP services, please contact CAP UK who have a variety of support groups locally.
  • There are also Jubilee Debt clinics run through Derby City Mission. The Jubilee Project offers FREE debt advice at walk-in, no appointment clinics held at various locations across the city.
  • If you are struggling, did you know that the church has a Benevolent Fund for those in hardship or require immediate assistance. If you need to access this fund, you can apply through contacting the Pastoral Team. The Pastoral Team is led by Sandra and Graham Hinds, who are Senior Leaders at CCD. You can contact them via email here:

More about Cap money

If you want to make the best use of your finances consider giving them a thorough review, both income and expenditure.  To help you with this we will be starting to run the CAP Money Course in the autumn.  This is a 3 week course to help you manage your personal or household budget.  If this is something you feel you would benefit from please register your interest in order that we can gauge numbers via richard.wormsley@emcf.net

As well as running CAP Money courses centrally we would like to be able to offer this as a resource for use within Riverside Communities.  There are also modules tailored for students, youth and children.

Moning Saving Tips

We would like to provide an opportunity for people to share their “top tips” of how practically you can optimise or reduce your monthly expenditure.  It would be good to encourage one another to share back on your successes.  For example last week I called Virgin Media and got a £15 per month reduction on my Broadband, Phone and TV package.

It is important that we live in the blessings that God has provided us with and so we would urge you to take this opportunity to examine how we steward what the Lord has provided us with.
